PS4 upload speed

Postby Tequila1981 » Wed Oct 11, 2017 12:53 pm

hi
i recently upgraded my mweb adsl line to a fibre line (50 Mbps down and 50 Mbps down). The fibre router in use currently is tp-link ac5400, currently all network cables are CAT5E, gaming is set to high priority. Test conducted with only one device testing.
Test 1) From my pc (1Gb Ethernet card) on the hard wire i receive great speeds up and down (-+45 Mbps)
Test 2) From my smart device (wireless, speed test was around 40Mbps down & up),
Test 3) From my PS4 (CUH-1116B) which is also a hard wire, i receive good download (-+ 40 Mbps) but poor upload speed (-+ 2 Mbps).

Which makes it really difficult playing games like destiny 1/2. i called mweb technical team, they advised me to post here. The distance from the PC to router is around 1 meter, from PS4 to router is 6meters. What can be done to enable me to get a good upload speed?

Sadly PS network is renowned for being horrible when it comes to speed. The speeds you are getting should not interfere with gameplay however as no game requires that much bandwidth. Have you done the usual of port forwarding, making sure uPNP is active, trying PS4 in DMZ or even setting PS4's network settings to PPPoE and entering Fibre username and password as that will bypass any possible router interference?

hi
i have checked my router UPNP is enabled with the following ports(3075,21799), active/enabled ports (80,443,3478-3480,1935,2805-2899,6667,3074)to be forwarded to PS4. Are there any other ports needed? i have move the PS4 into the DMZ, no change. Unfortunately, VumaTel(fiber provider), does not require/cater for PPPoE to access internet, the router is set to dynamic ip,if i set PPPoE on PS4, it fails to connect
